Wanderer Adventures is part of the Victorian owned and operated Searoad Ferries group of companies, employing more than 200 people and moving around one million customers a year. 

Searoad Ferries have been operating the iconic Queenscliff-Sorrento car and passenger service since 1987. Our bus tour company Explore Australia / Naturaliste Tours connects customers to amazing tourism and wildlife experiences across Victoria. Searoad Ferries also operates Western Port Ferries connecting Stony Point to French Island and Phillip Island in Western Port Bay.

About the Roles

We are seeking suitably qualified people to join our team. We have multiple roles available as we gear up for the summer peak season and are seeking to fill full time, part time and seasonal casual roles.

Our Senior Tour Guides are key members of the Marine Operations Team, fulfilling a range of duties to enhance end-to-end customer experiences including guiding tours both at sea and on land, handling vessels, providing on board customer service, vessel cleaning and maintenance, and conducting walking tours in the Wilsons Promontory National Park.

Responsibilities include planning travel itineraries, familiarising customers with the local area, and ensuring tour groups always remain safe.

Other key aspects of the positions include maintenance and cleaning to prepare vessels and equipment for tours, ensuring safe loading/unloading of vessels, conducting customer safety briefings, and performing customer liaison duties.

About You

You have a passion for local tourism, the environment, and marine operations.

Excellent personal presentation and confidence to conduct tours both marine and land based will be key to your success in any of these roles.

As a Senior Tour Guide (Vessel Master) you will: 

  • Hold a Coxswain Grade 1 Near Coastal or Master <24m
  • Be able to perform Master duties aboard as per our Safety Management System (SMS) including keeping watch over hazards, and ensuring the safety, and seaworthiness of vessels
  • Be an assertive leader, able to give clear direction to crew and customers
  • Have demonstratable marine vessel handling experience
  • Be punctual, reliable, and flexible
  • Have customer service experience
  • Be comfortable speaking in front of medium sized groups
  • Work well under pressure balancing conflicting priorities and working to deadlines
  • Be approachable and accessible, possessing excellent problem-solving abilities

About the Roles

The Customer Service Team are the first ‘port-of-call’, for customers undertaking our tours.

A key member of our operations, the Customer Service Attendant fulfils a range of duties to enhance end-to-end customer experiencea including handling customer enquiries, booking tours, and providing information about add-on services. 

Ensuring customer protective equipment is stored, maintained, and cleaned, fit for each tour is a key aspect of the role. Daily responsibilities include booking tours, processing ticket sales, cash handling, receiving, and processing customer payments, handling phone/email enquiries, directing and guiding customers, preparing for tours and assisting with any special needs. 

About you

We’re looking for someone with: 

  • A love of nature
  • Previous customer service experience
  • A passion for the tourism industry
  • Working knowledge of booking systems is highly desirable
  • Strong Microsoft 365 abilities
